A woman was arrested after police say she stole a veteran’s credit and debit card from his wallet and purchased a Nintendo gaming system with it at Walmart.

Jennifer Chaghoury, 52, was arrested by police for an incident that happened back in October. Police say that Chaghoury was working as a health care provider at an assisted living facility where the victim lived when she reportedly went through his wallet and stole the credit and debit cards. The victim told police he tried to stop her, but was held down on his bed by an unknown man, then struck on the side of his head and knocked unconscious.

The victim was transferred to the Audie Murphy Memorial Veteran’s Hospital where he was able to contact police and file a report. He told police that fraudulent charges appeared on his credit card for purchases he did not authorize.

Chaghoury was seen on surveillance video obtained by police with a juvenile male accomplice at a local Walmart buying a Nintendo gaming system and lightning square credit card reader using the victim’s credit card. The video showed her trying to use his debit card first, but it was declined twice. She then pulls out his credit card and uses that, and the transaction is approved.

Chaghoury told police she used his cards by mistake and intended to pay him back for the purchases. She also told police she bought the gaming system for elders in her care to keep them entertained., and the credit card reader because hers no longer worked.

Chaghoury is being charged with credit card or debit card abuse, which is a felony.
